Transportation Work Group
At the January, 2008 meeting of the Power of We Consortium, an Ad Hoc Transportation Committee was established in response to consensus that affordable and available transportation is critical to assuring equal access to services. The Tri-County Regional Planning Commission (TCRPC) provided leadership for the Ad Hoc Committee, with Jon Coleman serving as the Chairperson, Paul Hamilton as technical staff, and TCRPC also providing clerical support for the meetings.
The Committee reported initial findings of agency and client survey results to the Consortium membership in April, 2009, and committee recommendations, based on the data, in June, 2010. Feedback on the recommendations was gathered from the Consortium and other groups. Recommendations were approved by Consortium members at its November, 2010 meeting, and the ad hoc committee was formally accepted as a Work Group of the Power of We Consortium.

The Transportation Work Group has established a Mobility Broker to receive calls regarding specific transportation needs throughout the Tri-County area. The Mobility Broker office, housed within the Clean Commute office of CATA, investigates transportation solutions and responds accordingly. Transporation requests from any agency or individual that cannot be solved are recorded in a database so as to develop data regarding specific needs. The Transportation Work Group will use this data to begin to look at needed solutions. Mobility Broker information.
